Conference Champs!

Boys' team took first place at the Twin Cities Nordic Conference Championship. little boy came in 17th overall and got honorable mention. The results were:

Study of dog and cat

Not much going on. Watching bad tv, knitting and reading a book. Feeling that midwinter malaise, brought on by long nights and the inability to run. Spring is coming and things will eventually get better. Won't they?

Two more degrees!

It's supposed to warm up to above zero today and be in the 30s by next week. Ummm, could we do the weather in moderation, please? I don't really want all my snow to melt.
Speaking of snow, my buddy K and I are headed up to Hayward, WI after work today for a ski race tomorrow morning. It's my first ski race (in the tradition of doing things in a big way, it's a 22k, or just over 13 miles, and no I've never skied that far before, not even close!) and I hope I'm not DFL. But if I am, oh well. Vacation!

It just wasn't cold enough

So this morning it's even colder! It looked like just about every school in the state was closed or delayed 2 hours this morning, but of course not Minneapolis or St. Paul. I didn't ski yesterday, too much wind. If it's not windy today, I'll go out, even though the high is supposed to be -5.

Can you read the thermometer? It's -18 as I drive to work this morning. Skiing will be an adventure today!

RIP

Sophie the Subaru, which I've had since 1998, died last week. A victim of the crappy head gasket design of that era 2.5l DOHC engine. Sophie handled amazingly well in whatever weather Minnesota threw at us, and had a check engine light that burned continuously for nine years. She had just over 189,000 miles on her. She will be missed.
