Pointe Fire, Twin Falls District, Idaho
This lightning caused fire started on August 6th at 2112. The fire started approximately three miles south of Rogerson, Idaho in grass and brush. The fire was estimated at 235 acres on the first day, but winds picked up and drove the fire, allowing it to burn more acreage. The fire has been mapped at 958.5 acres and has an estimated containment time of August 8th at 1600 and an estimated control time of August 9th. Crews were able to get a hold of the fire and are working on reaching the fires containment. There are 135 resources committed to the fire at this time. There are some valuable areas near the fire including: Salmon Falls Reservoir, National and Historical trails, sensitive plant species, and grazing allotments.
